Meetings, where the activities of Asian countries within IAESTE are discussed and strategies for increasing the mutual exchange of internship placements and students—both among themselves and with other member countries—are evaluated, are organized by a different country each year.
The meeting, the fifth of which was hosted by Turkey, has been held in previous years hosted by Thailand, India, Tajikistan, and Oman. As an initiative expanded to cover the Asia-Pacific region since 2018, it aims to develop regional collaborations under the IAESTE umbrella. IAESTE Turkey National Secretary Prof. Dr. Gülhayat Nasün Saygılı represented our country at the 9th meeting, where strategies for the coming year were discussed.
The most important agenda item of the meeting, held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on October 5-6, 2019, was to bring regional activities within IAESTE together under a common project to increase exchange between Asia-Pacific countries and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Turkey, represented in both the APIF and CER groups, will play an important role in this endeavor.
