IAESTE (the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) was founded in 1948 at Imperial College London through the initiative of ten countries. As an independent, impartial, and non-profit student exchange organization, IAESTE operates in approximately 80 countries and facilitates the exchange of more than 4,000 trainee students each year. IAESTE A.s.b.l. has a confederation structure composed of National Committees representing the common interests of academia, industry, and university students.

Türkiye joined the organization in 1953 through the initiative of Istanbul Technical University and became a Full Member in 1955. Operating in Türkiye under the name International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE Türkiye), IAESTE Türkiye carries out its activities with the support of a National Committee representing academic institutions, industrial organizations, and student communities.
