Winter Exchange Session’26 (WES)

The 79th General Conference of IAESTE, which has been held regularly every year since 1948, took place in Canada between 14–19 November 2025, with the participation of more than 40 national committees. As a continuation of the General Conference, the “Winter Exchange Session (WES)” was successfully organized by Istanbul Technical University at the Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center between 05–07 February 2026.
Ranked among the world’s most established technical universities, Istanbul Technical University plays a pioneering role not only in many academic fields but also in internationalization and international technical internship exchange. As an active member of IAESTE since 1955, the university regularly participates in these conferences in order to maintain a sustainable international internship exchange program.
A total of 30 representatives from 18 countries attended the event in person, while 25 countries participated online. Representing our university were Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İpek Akın Karadayı, International Relations Coordinator Prof. Dr. Esra Çapanoğlu Güven, IAESTE Turkey National Secretary Prof. Dr. Gülhayat Nasün Saygılı, IAESTE Turkey Office Manager Lecturer Cahit Okan. IAESTE Representatives and Student Committees from member universities—particularly Istanbul Technical University, as well as Middle East Technical University, MEF University, Yıldız Technical University, and Istanbul University—also played an active role in the event.

It was held between November 14-19, 2025, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. ITU Lecturer Cahit OKAN, Manager of the IAESTE Turkey Office, participated representing our country. It was decided that the second phase of the conference would be hosted by Istanbul Technical University in Turkey.

78th IAESTE Annual General Conference

It was scheduled to be held in Amman, the capital of Jordan, on November 8-13, 2024, but was cancelled due to regional conflicts and held online instead. At this conference, it was decided that starting from 2024, the conferences would be held twice a year, in November and January.

It was decided to be held as a hybrid event in Cartagena, Colombia, between January 19-25, 2024. IAESTE Turkey participated online with a four-person team from Yıldız Technical University and ITU, representing our country. A total of 139 internship quotas were brought from Turkey to the conference, 120 of which were given to other countries, and the exchange was completed by receiving 118 internship forms from these countries in return.

It was held in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, on January 20-26, 2023. A team of five people from Yıldız Technical University and ITU participated in the conference representing our country. A total of 124 internship quotas were brought from Turkey to the conference, 120 of which were given to other countries, and the exchange was completed by receiving 116 internship forms from these countries in return.


75th IAESTE Annual General Conference

It was held in Vienna, the capital of Austria, between January 21-27, 2022. A team of five people from Yıldız Technical University and ITU participated in the conference representing our country. A total of 334 internship quotas were brought from Turkey for exchange at the conference, 171 of which were given to other countries, and the exchange was completed by receiving 172 internship forms from these countries in return.

 It was held on an online platform between January 22-28, 2021, due to the pandemic. Because the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic that started in 2020 and continued in 2021 persisted, 143 internship quotas were provided for exchange, 132 of which were given to countries, and the exchange was completed by receiving 132 internship forms from countries in return equally.



 73rd IAESTE Annual General Conference

 It was held in Tatranska, Slovakia, on January 24-30, 2020. A team of five people from Yıldız Technical University, Koç University, and ITU participated in the conference representing our country. A total of 335 internship quotas were brought from Turkey for exchange at the conference, 232 of which were given to other countries, and the exchange was completed by receiving 225 internship forms from these countries in return.
