- How can I benefit from the IAESTE internship program?
To benefit from the internship exchange, the university you are studying at must first be a member of IAESTE Turkey, and the University Representative must have created a candidate list for the relevant year and sent it to the IAESTE Turkey office.
- My university is not a member of IAESTE Turkey. Can I apply?
No. First, the university must engage in official correspondence for membership. Please review the "Universities" tab for the detailed procedure.
- I registered via the Exchange Platform; what do I need to do for it to be approved?
The Exchange Platform is a portal used by IAESTE for exchange. However, for students' entries to be approved here, their names must be included in the candidate student lists forwarded to the Turkey office by the University Representatives. Entries from students outside of Member Universities and candidate lists will not be approved.
- Can students establish a club on behalf of the University and apply for membership?
No. Students cannot officially apply for membership. However, they can inform the academic or administrative staff in relevant departments at their universities about contacting the IAESTE Turkey office.
- Even though my university appears on the membership list, my University Representative does not conduct a foreign language exam or submit a candidate list. What can I do?
Informational messages are sent to the representatives assigned for IAESTE at universities at the beginning of every September. To create a candidate list, Representatives must organize a foreign language exam at their schools to assess students' language proficiency. If these activities are not being carried out at your school, you can raise awareness by speaking with your representative or another department at your university.
- Am I definitely entitled to an internship once I am on the candidate list?
IAESTE internship quotas are limited and only a certain number can be allocated to each university. A student whose name is on the candidate list is only a student who has the possibility to apply. Being on the candidate list does not guarantee an internship.
- How many years is my foreign language score valid for?
The score you received from the foreign language exam is valid for 2 years. However, to gain the right to apply for an internship, your name must still be on the candidate list and forwarded to the IAESTE Turkey Office by your Representative.
- Can I choose the country I want to apply to for an internship myself?
IAESTE internship quotas are distributed to Universities by the IAESTE Turkey Office. The relevant University Representative can select suitable candidates for these quotas based on the scoring in the candidate list. Students are not obliged to accept the internship quota offered to them. However, choosing a country first and then applying for an internship is only suitable for form types such as COBE/FCFS.
- I want to do an internship in Germany with a DAAD scholarship. They directed me to IAESTE. What can I do?
IAESTE Turkey's collaboration with DAAD in Germany is only valid for pre-determined quotas. Individual student applications are not accepted from outside.
- Can I receive a scholarship through IAESTE?
IAESTE is not a grant or scholarship program. However, the employers where students intern try to assist students financially by paying a modest amount sufficient to cover accommodation and/or meals in the country of the internship. This amount may vary for each country.
- Who covers the travel expenses?
Students cover their own expenses for traveling to and returning from the country where they are accepted for an internship.
- Is it necessary to have a Student Club at our university?
IAESTE is a program based on the principle of mutual exchange. To offer internship opportunities to students in Turkey, it is necessary to obtain as many quotas as possible from other countries. This depends on how many quotas Turkey offers to those countries. The quota opportunities offered by Turkey are provided through internship placement forms collected from companies as a result of the work of student clubs. The more actively the university's club works, the more internship application rights it possesses.
- How long does it take for the result of the internship I applied for to be determined?
After the internship application is forwarded to the country, a positive or negative response is received within two weeks to one month.
- What should I do if I decide to withdraw my internship application?
You can withdraw your application before your application result is determined. You must inform the IAESTE Turkey Office and your Representative about the situation.
- Can I withdraw my application after receiving an acceptance?
If you cancel an internship for which you have received acceptance, you will not be granted the right to apply again in the IAESTE program.
- Can I apply for more than one internship at the same time?
A student can only apply for one quota at a time. If their application is not accepted, their right to apply for another quota continues.
- How can I find out the result of my application?
The IAESTE Turkey Office informs you and your Representative regarding your application. It is against IAESTE rules for students to contact the other party directly to ask questions about their applications.
- Will there be someone to meet me in the country I go to?
Every student who receives an acceptance shares their arrival date information via the Exchange Platform. Subsequently, the relevant student club in the destination country contacts them and provides information regarding the pickup and accommodation.
